Rows in Radiators

Last Updated: Sep 11, 2014 01:09PM EDT
In its simplest form, the more rows one has in a radiator, the more fluid that can flow through the radiator at a given time.

The more "rows" the higher the cooling capacity of the item.

Do note that when you have more rows, it is more difficult to pass air through the radiator.  This is crucial to utilizing the additional cooling capacity.

If you upgrade to a thicker radiator and notice it runs how at stop lights or when idling, then consider adding high efficiency electric fans to the unit to keep air moving through the radiator when needed.
  • 1 Row  - Most original dealer products
  • 2 Row - A thicker version of the original with 20-40% more cooling capacity.  These normall fit stock and are a great no nonsense replacement.
  • 3 Row - a thicker version of the radiator with thicker side or top and bottom tanks providing up to 100% additional capacity.
  • 4 Row - Industrial items that are completely custom installation.  Made for fleet, offroad and custom racing applications.  Great for ground up builds.  120-150% cooling capacity upgrade.
